The Art of Collaboration: Building Bridges for Success
A post shared by Ashok Tankala | Leadership and Executive Coach | Ex-CTO (@ashoktankala)
In today's work environment, working well together as teams is really important for achieving success. Sometimes we need help from people who are not on our team.
If we only ask for help without considering their needs and what they think, they might not be willing to help us. It's better to have a mindset of giving and taking.
Instead of immediately asking for help, we should think about what the other person might need and understand their point of view. We can start the conversation by asking if they need any help from us. This shows that we care about their needs and want to work together.
Having inclusive conversations is also important. After we understand their needs, we can share our thoughts about the task or feature we need their help with. We can explain how we think it will benefit the product and ask for their ideas too. This way, we can learn more about the product and benefit from their knowledge.
When we help them with their needs, explain why our request is good for the product, and consider their ideas, they are more likely to say yes to our request.
Can you think of a time when using a giving and taking approach led to better collaboration and positive results?
