My Goto Strategies for Beating Burnout & Healthier Work-Life Balance
Feeling burned out at work? Here are some strategies that have helped me:
1. Identify the Causes of Your Burnout 🔍
It might seem obvious, but pinpointing the exact reasons for your burnout can be challenging. It could stem from work stress, lack of sleep, office politics, dissatisfaction with personal life or concerns about career growth. Once you identify the root cause, it becomes easier to address.
2. Seek Guidance from a Mentor or Role Model 🌟
Talking to someone you look up to, such as a mentor or coach, can provide valuable insights. These individuals have often faced similar challenges and can offer solutions or advice on what to avoid. 3. Make Time for Activities You Enjoy 🎨
We often get so absorbed in work that we neglect our hobbies and interests. These things I do: building piptrends.com, volunteering (I'm currently involved with PyCon), creating tech videos in Telugu, or learning something new. It's important to engage in activities that bring you joy.
4. Prioritize Exercise, Sleep and Healthy Eating 🏃♂️💤🍏
5. Take Regular Breaks 🛑
While taking a trip can be refreshing, even small breaks can significantly impact your well-being. Avoid sitting in front of the computer all the time. Every hour or two, stand up, walk around for five minutes or enjoy the view of nature. Please don’t check your phone - it worsens the problem.
Bonus Tip: Focus on what you can control, not what you can't. I know it's a philosophical approach. But nowadays I am working on incorporating it. 🌱
