Hire for Hunger, Not Just Credentials: Why Motivation Matters More Than Credentials
If you're a hiring manager or soon to be one, here's a crucial piece of advice: Prioritize motivation over credentials when selecting the right candidate. Let me explain why!
🔍 In my experience, I've noticed that many times, particularly in the context of Java certifications, individuals with Java certifications often perform poorly compared to those who possess a good grasp of Java but have a genuine hunger for building something amazing.

📚 Credentials often stem from repetitive tasks and routines that can be achieved over time. Some credentials are obtained through memorization without necessarily reflecting practical skills.
⚡️ On the other hand, a motivated individual brings an unstoppable energy to the table. They turn setbacks into opportunities and see rejection as a redirection towards success.
🚀 They are the true badasses you want in your team - always hungry to achieve, learn and grow.
I'm not suggesting that credentials have no value; they do matter. What I am saying is that motivation should carry more weight in the decision-making process.
So, remember, when you're in a position to choose, give preference to the go-getters with a fire in their belly. They are the ones who will make a real impact and drive your team to greater heights!
