Do Work That Matches Your Values - It Can Change Your Life

There’s a saying I’ve come to believe deeply: “Find work that matches your values, and you’ll never feel like you’re working.”
Many people are not happy with their jobs. One big reason is that their work doesn’t match who they are or what they truly believe in. When your job and your values don’t align, it becomes just something you do for money - not something that brings joy or meaning. That can affect not only your work life but your personal life too.
Two years ago, I made a big decision - I left my job. At that time, I had no idea what I would do next. I was nervous and honestly quite clueless. But I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to try something new. I wanted to explore the other side of life—the side where you create your own path instead of following a fixed one.
So, I started experimenting. I tried coaching, teaching and offering Fractional CTO services. Slowly, I began to understand what felt right. I realized I enjoyed being a Fractional CTO the most. It matched who I am.
Why? Because I love learning new things. I enjoy working with smart, passionate people. I like helping startups and businesses grow. And most importantly, I have control over my own time. That freedom is priceless. I often tell people this proudly: I control my time.
A few days ago, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the CodeBasics AI & Data Fest. It was a great experience. After the event, the team even invited me to their team outing. That touched me. They didn’t have to invite me - after all, I’m just a service provider. But they did. That simple act reminded me how lucky I am. I’m not just working with clients - I’m building real, meaningful connections.
Here are a few highlights from that experience:
I met so many inspiring and kind people at the conference.
I spent time with the amazing HydPy community.
I got the chance to hang out with the amazing Codebasics team. Each one of them has their own story of struggle, but despite the challenges, they never gave up. They’ve grown into who they are today - and now they’re inspiring and helping so many learners along the way.
I had the chance to hang out with Dhaval and Hemanand - something many people only dream about and I got to experience it.
Now, it’s been two years since I started this journey. Has it always been easy? No. There were times when I was scared or unsure. But when I look back, I know one thing for sure: it was totally worth it.
This journey helped me find work that fits who I am. And because of that, I feel more alive, more connected and more excited about the future.
